Information
This accommodation is a 1-bedroom apartment, renovated in 2009, and
suitable for up to 4 guests because of the large
sofa-bed in the living room. It is on the 3rd floor
of a traditional building in Alfama with no lift/elevator.
The apartment consists of a living room, dining room & kitchen,
bedroom and bathroom and with total area of 65m2
offers plenty of space for 1 to 4 guests.
The living room has a large sofa-bed for 2
people and affords wonderful
views of the River Tagus and beyond. Natural
light streams in through the large floor to
ceiling window, which allows you to sit by the
narrow balcony and enjoy looking over the
rooftops of Alfama and the river. Here you can
also find a large flat-screen TV with cable
channels, and make use of the free wi-fi
Internet connection. The bedroom also
has a large French window giving the same
excellent views, and contains a double-bed and
small wardrobe. The bathroom has a shower,
washbasin, bidet, and wooden frame for towels.
The kitchen and dining room may be found in the
same spacious area, divided by a wooden bench
with 2 bar stools. The kitchen is fully-equipped
with all mod-cons: fridge, washing machine,
dish-washer, microwave, vitro-ceramic hob, Moka
coffee maker, toaster, and all necessary
utensils. The dining area contains a table and 4
chairs.
We provide clean sheets and towels for all our guests, and also free high-speed wi-fi Internet.
Location
The apartment building is particularly
convenient for moving around the city, since it
is located in the centre of Lisbon and just
round the corner from the Metro & Train station
called Santa Apolonia. This train station is
convenient also because it contains a
supermarket called Pingo Doce, open every day
until 9pm at night.
In the next street, the Old Town district of
Lisbon starts. This is Alfama, which is a
veritable maze of small cobbled streets with old
buildings, typical taverns and restaurants where
Fado is performed.
It is marvellous to lose
yourself in these small streets, and just keep
walking onwards and upwards until you finally
find yourself at the spectacular viewpoint
called the Miradouro das Portas do Sol, giving
marvellous panoramic views of Alfama and the
river.
Just 500 metres from here, the
Sé can be found, which is Lisbon's Cathedral.
And if you still have the energy, you can keep
walking up towards the castle which should only
take 10-15 minutes.
Other nearby sights include the
Museu do Fado (the Fado Museum), the National
Pantheon, and the large central Praça do Comercio square.
