Information
This is a recently renovated 1-bedroom, 4th floor apartment in a traditional building in Alfama with no lift/elevator.
The apartment is very spacious (65 square metres) and has a living room to match, incorporating 2 sofa-beds. The main feature of this accommodation can be found here, with two large full-length windows providing simply magnificent views over the rooftops and the River Tagus, just a couple of hundred metres away. You'll be torn between discovering the attractions of the beautiful city of Lisbon or staying here for hours enjoying the passing of large cruise ships and other boats.
The bedroom contains a supremely comfortable queen-size double bed with reading lights, a chest for clothes and also a wardrobe. Behind the bed there is another full-length window through which you can see Alfama and across the river as far as the Cristo Rei statue, which was based on the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro.
The bathroom is well-equipped with stand-up shower, bidet, wash-basin and towels for all guests.
The kitchen comes as a surprise to many, since it is larger than it appears in the photos, and is divided into a cooking area with all mod-cons (fridge, washing machine, dish-washer, vitro-ceramic hob, microwave,
coffee-maker, etc.) and a spacious eating area with table and 4 chairs.
Between the cooking and eating areas, there is a long bar with stools where you can serve food or enjoy a tasty Portuguese wine.
We provide clean sheets and towels for all our guests, and also free high-speed wi-fi Internet..
Location
The location really couldn't be better, right in the centre of Lisbon. It is next to the traditional and historic Alfama district and literally 150 metres from the convenient Metro/Underground station of Santa Apolonia.
The station includes a supermarket which is open every day until 9pm, and opposite there is a chemists. From this area you can walk to the Fado Museum and on to the massive Praça do Comercio square.
But in our humble opinion the big attraction here is to stroll through the narrow streets of Alfama and up towards the Cathedral, Lisbon castle and simply enjoy the ancient buildings and typical taverns and restaurants. This is the perfect place to experience Fado, traditional Portuguese soulful music.
